ISRO (The Indian Space Research Organisation) created history on 23rd August by making a soft landing on the south pole of the Moon. Yesterday at 6:04 PM, the spacecraft’s Vikram lander made a soft landing on the lunar surface.
After the soft landing of the Vikram lander, the dust settled on the surface of the Moon and the Pragyan rover rolled over from the Vikram lander. This step of Vikram Lander started the 14-day science observation mission of Chandrayaan-3.
On August 24 ISRO shared a post on X giving new updates about the Chandrayaan-3 mission. The post said,
“The Ch-3 Rover ramped down from the Lander and India took a walk on the moon !”.
ISRO has now finally overcome the disappointment of four years for the failure of the Chandrayaan-2 mission because of the crash landing of the lander.
Chandrayaan-3 mission’s success created history by making India the first country to land a spacecraft on the undiscovered territory of the Moon near the south pole. India has also become the fourth country to complete a soft landing on the lunar surface after the United States, the Soviet Union, and China.
